Another Successful Year for the NJ Sandcastle Contest

Belmar, NJ (July 19, 2011) – Last week, the 25th Annual NJ Sandcastle Contest was held on 18th Avenue Beach in Belmar, New Jersey. This highly anticipated event generated over 10,000 sand sculpting enthusiasts of all ages and spanned five blocks of the beach.   Of the attendees, there were over 300 entries, ranging from one person to groups of a hundred day campers.  Attendees enjoyed creating an array of sand sculptures such as traditional castles, cartoon characters, alligators, crocodiles, and even a McDonald’s McCafe frozen beverage.

The free event included food, drinks, dance contests, and giveaways and would not be possible without the generous contributions from local and national sponsors.   Belmar’s legendary D’Jais Beachcomber Bar & Grill, through its donations and volunteers, helped manage the event’s logistics. Additionally, B&B Trophies, Belmar Parasail, Gymboree, Herr’s, Pro Skateboard Shop, Seaglass Dreams, Teddy Bears by the Seashore, Six Flags, Sysco Food, Taylor Hardware, UTZ, JackRabbit Toys, SandTools, Surf Taco, Seaview Beverages, Holiday Meats, Sunsations, VitaCoco, and The Breeze provided donations, giveaways, and products for the prize packages.

Trophies and prize packages were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in six categories: 7 & under, 8-11, 12-15, 16 & up, Day Camps and Families. A prize was also awarded to “Best on the Beach.” For a list of winners please see

Save the Date - Next year’s event, the 26th Annual NJ Sandcastle Contest, will be held on July 11, 2012.
